Maths with Hattietude

HATTIE  (Sue Brown) has developed a range of  performance programmes based on her experiences as Advisory Teacher in Harrow and as Numeracy Consultant in Hounslow.

These include:

 

numerical maths tricks & puzzles

presented in such a way that the children can use mathematical thinking

to try to work out what is happening;

 

paper cutting

to surprise;

 

paper folding

to inform about shape and space;

 

giant bubbles

 to amaze;

 

juggling

to count.

 

 

Typical Performance Programmes comprise:

 Whole day:

 E       Up to 5 performances of about 45 mins to 1 hour, to classes, year groups or phases.

 E       One assembly to KS1 or KS2, followed by a timetable of visits to individual classes throughout the remainder of the visit.

 E       A short performance to KS1 followed by longer performances to KS2 and further visits to individual classes.

                  

 Half day:

 E       Maximum 3 performances of about 45 mins to 1 hour, to year groups or phases.

 E       Two assemblies to KS1 and KS2 and visit a class.

 E       A timetable of visits to classes to fit in with school times.

   

 Assemblies:  (West Dorset only)

 E       One performance to either KS1 or KS2 for approximately 30mins.

 

Sue is also available to come to your school, out of clown:

 E       to talk to teachers or parents about

               “Performing maths with children” , or

               “Making maths fun and accessible”, 

            based on the ideas behind her clown act and backed up by her recent experience as

           a Numeracy Consultant.

 E       to deliver INSET on

               Problem Solving,

              Using & Applying Maths.

      

Social events & fetes:

 

 E   Sue is Editor of "Foolish Times", the newsletter of "Holy Fools", a group of Christian clowns.  Members of the organisation perform as Holy Fools in church services (of any denomination), and take part in church related activities.

       As a Holy Fool, Sue is prepared to assist you with your fund-raising events by “Meeting and Greeting” informally, and/or with more formal performances and entertainment.
